The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has officially opened HyProMag GmbH’s new recycling and manufacturing facility for rare-earth magnets in Pforzheim. With its innovative HPMS recycling technology, the facility is making a key contribution to strengthening European supply chains and ensuring a sustainable supply for key industries such as electric mobility.
Successful Test Run for Magnet Recycling in Pforzheim:
HyProMag GmbH has successfully completed the first commissioning tests of its commercial recycling plant for rare-earth magnets. The plant’s centerpiece—a reactor for the patented hydrogen-based processing of magnet scrap (HPMS)—has begun operations, thereby laying the foundation for the industrial production of recycled neodymium magnets in Germany.
We are part of the Horizon EU project REEsilience:
REEsilience aims to create new market opportunities for critical raw materials produced sustainably in Europe by establishing a reliable and sustainable supply chain for rare-earth magnets in the EU.
Rare Earth Magnets and Motors: A European Call for Action
In 2021, the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) published an “Action Plan” to secure access to rare earths for European industry. The report addresses current and projected European demand for rare earths. It also outlines measures designed to secure the supply of rare earths.
